It was a one time experience!

By Bernd Hartmann - Switzerland

My wife and I traveled to Tibet last month and had the best holiday ever! It was a perfect trip anyone could ever dream of. Thank you Mr Mao (booking) Lotze (guide) & Dawa (driver) for such good and personal care. We loved everything about the time spent in Tibet.
The trekking tour around Kailash was a challenge! My wife got a little sick but it turned out to be no big problem! We both enjoyed the days in the mountain area, it was a one time experience for us!

Bernd Hartmann from Zürich, Switzerland

Breathtaking views!

By Daniel Lauw - Luxembourg

With knowledgeable guide and experienced driver into the Kailash region was a great trekking experience that provided the know-how and positivity necessary to literally climb mountains. I highly recommend this experience to all who crave fresh mountain air and sunshine... and don't forget the breathtaking views!

The landscape was incredible!

By StéphaneBeaune - France

Great trip to pick if you want to do a trekking to the most exciting places of Tibet. No one in our group found the trekking too challenging as we are all young and dynamic people. The landscape was incredible! Definitely would recommend if you want to see the himalayas and the holy kailash without the major physical challenge and are restricted with time.

We had a great experience!

By Akkarat Bunyasarn - Thailand

We just finished our tour to Tibet with CHINA GROUP TOURS and we had a great experience!
Special thanks to our tour guide Norbu. He was so helpful, knowledgeable, considerate, experienced and professional. He speaks very good English and his knowledge about tibetan culture und history made our trip an unforgettable experience.
Thanks to our tour Consultant, Mr Mao, for his help in organizing our Tibet trip. It was wonderful and well organised.

Akkarat Bunyasarn

A good trip overall!

By Kevin Campbell - Canada

It was a wonderful trip we never forget about in our entire life. We really enjoyed the trekking around Kailash with Norbu, the super-knowledgeable and competent guide. It was great, and I gained a very good impression of the culture and life in Tibet.
All other services were very good too. The only negative thing I want to mention is about the Guesthouse in Rongbuk, which was too simple and unacceptable for a our level!

Kevin and Mary Campbell from Toronto

I had an really amazing time!

By Adam Swingger - Australia

I had an really amazing time, the scenery was breathtaking. Although the altitude became a bit much in the end I highly recommend this trip.

Adam & Jessica Swingger

We are extremely pleased with the great experience!

By Tobias Loher - Germany

My girlfriend and I visited Tibet during our Asia tour last year and we absolutely loved the country, the people, the culture and the food!
We had decided to try and plan everything and visit all the landmarks ourselves, then we realized that it was not possible for Tibet. This was the reason that we booked this trip with CHINA GROUP TOURS.
At first, I was not sure if it would be an good idea to book a tour with a company in China which we did not hear about since. They didn't let us down! Service was prompt and professional from the first contact. We are convinced that we found the right one for planning our trip.
We were extremely pleased with the great experience and we would absolutely recommend this service to anyone who wants to visit Tibet!
Thank you Mr Mao for the flawless service!
By the way, we have to warn you that a trip to Kailash is not for everyone! You must have perfect conditions and trekking experiences in some mountain regions would be good for this trip.

Tobias Loher

Excellent travel service!

By Jakub Tomaszewski - Poland

It was a great trip!

By Jeff Johannes - Australia

We have just done the magnificent Kailash tour with the wonderful guide Cothne. Nothing was to much trouble for him and he made sure everything ran smoothly every day. It was a fantastic trip with many amazing places visited and a great group of people to see them with. All in all it was a great trip I would recommend to anyone wanting to visit Tibet.

Jeff Johannes

Great hiking experience!

By Jean-Luc BODEUX - France

A unforgettable hiking experience with a very, very good guide. The trip to Kailash paid off, we went home with sensational memories.

We are very satisfied!

By Vivian Kok - Malaysia

We traveled in August with CHINA GROUP TOURS to the Mount Kailash. The trip was very well organized, excellent local travel agency and full service on the tour. The hotels were OK, well, in the mountain area, you can not expect much, it was understandable for us.
We got to learn a lot about this fantastic place. We are very satisfied!

Vivian Kok

Everything was very well organised.

By Ivanov Andreay - Russia

Great service during the reservation process and throughout our trip to Kailash. We travelled 15 days across Tibet including the Kailash region, and everything was very well organised. In every place, the guide and driver took good care of us and they were all professionals. The travel bus were clean and safe. All the hotels were exactly as presented, even the guesthouses in the mountain are OK. It is not possible to provide luxury in the mountain region, we totally understand this.
CHINA GROUP TOURS knows their business. Each day was interesting and the route was well selected. The program was flexible, which was also nice as sometimes we wanted to skip some workshops and visit extra sites instead.

Ivanov Andrey

Great tour with lots of adventure!

By Nobert Keisch - Germany

Great tour with lots of adventure. The 3 days trekking around the mount Kailash was so much fun and the scenery we went through on the trek was beautiful! Highly recommended as an introduction to trekking in Tibet.

Nobert Keisch

A fascinating and magical land!

By Max De Jong - Netherlands

Insightful journey into a fascinating, magical land. Very grateful to Rudup for his help throughout the trip. Our driver was extremely helpful too and attentive during the trip all the way to Kailash.
Altitude at Kailash is an issue, as is the cold (travelling in late October). If you can squeeze in a hot water bottle it is worth it!

Max De Jong

Our stay in Tiebet was great!

By Jesse Gouhour - Netherlands

Our days in Tibet were great! Not only because we finaly got to see the amazing landscape and got to know a lot of nice people, but also for our guide who made our stay really exciting. Always ready to tell an interesting story and useful tips about our trip.
We will highly recommend CHINA GROUP TOURs and especially Lotse, our tour guide as your travel companion in Tibet.

Very nice trip!

By Jack Harris - Irland

Very nice trip! We really enjoy our stay up there in the Kailash region.

Thank you very much for your help!

By Isabella Johansen - Denmark

Having just returned from this 15 day trip to Kailash, I must say that China Group Tours is by far the most accurate and helpful website I've found regarding the travel information for trekking tour to Kailash. I've also booked train tickets from Xining to Lhasa and everything went very well. Also the booking fees are the lowest I could find online. Thank you very much for your help.

Isabella Johansen

We got good value for money.

By Thomas Hart - Australia

Just returned from Tibet and had a fantastic holiday. The tour was very well organised and ran like clockwork. This was in no small way due to the efforts of our tour guide Cenbu. He went above and beyond to ensure that we were well looked after and all our extra needs were met with a cheerful smile. Cenbu was very pleased to show us her home country of which she is very proud. This is our second tour with CHINA GROUP TOURS having done Yunnan and once again we were not disappointed and feel we got good value for money.

Thomas & Lydia Hart

It was a fascinating trip!

By Milan SAJENKO - Slovenia

CHINA GROUP TOURS is a amazing company, we had fabulous guide and driver who were both patient and informative. The trekking to Kailash was very easy. We had been traveling to alps many times but during this 3 days trekking around Kailash, we had to make stops steadly. We are so proud we made it finally.
It was a fascinating trip. Definitely recommend!

16 days Tibet & Kailash Tour

By Caro Moretti - Italy

More than expected, wonderful journey in wonderful Tibet. This place should be left like what it looks like now, no exploration, no economy but just the last pure in the earth.

Most exciting journey of my life!

By Nicolas Benedict - United States

A divine experience not to be missed. One must visit this region at least once in their lifetime. Wonderful, selfless and most welcoming people around.
I would definitely want to go back some day!

Trekking tour mount Kailash

By Stéphane Decruze - France

Many, many thanks for the great organization for our trip to fulfill my one of the most important wish to visit the mount Kailash.

It was wonderful experience and much more than I expected. The organization of CHINA GROUP TOURS is professional and they provided best services within limited resources available in this mountain area.

Our guides and driver were working very hard to make everyone’s trip successful. We really enjoyed every moment of our journey and were deeply impressed by the landscape and people around Kailash.

I wish I can come to Kailash again someday!

Best trekking experience ever!

By Tom Russel - South Africa

First of all I want to thank CHINA GROUP TOURS' team and special thanks to Mr Mao for the perfect organization of our trip to the Mount Kailash.
With our group we completed the entire Kailash yatra. Our tour guide has taken care of the entire group so we enjoyed and experienced the unique culture and landscape of Mt Kailash.
The hotels and tents on the way to the Mt. Kailash were simple, but that was OK for us. We had a great journey, that was the most important thing!
We could start our trekking tour right after our arrival in Lhasa. It made no sense to stay in Lhasa that long, because it was filled with tourists and kind of chaotic.

Excellent Pilgrimage!!!

By Klaus Meyer - Austria

Me and my wife took this trip during our stay in China last summer.
It was defintely the most exciting experience in our life! Words can hardly express what happened to us. It was a amazing place filled with mystique and splendour. All the difficulties during the trekking, the cold, the terrible headace, all just fade when we finally face to face to the holy Kailash, it was peaceful and nice.
I met lots of local tibetan people who were heading to the Mt. Kailash too. We had wonderfull conversations with them, with the help of our guide.
The trekking was not that hard as we were expecting, we would like to say thank you for the great organisation of our travel agency, all our luggages were carried by horsed and yaks and we could trek the way we want.
When we came back to Lhasa and everything got to the end, and we thought back, it was like a dream for us!

Do you have a Question?

Please ask a question

Asked by Ruma Sen - India -

I would like to travel this year with my mother to Mount Kailash. I have a few questions:
1. Is there any age limit as my mother is 68 years
2. My mother will not do the Parikrama but I will. Can she stay in Darchen while I do the Parikrama?
3. Also, does your trip include the parikrama of the Mansarovar Lake?
4. How are the road conditions from Lhasa to Darken? Is it bumpy or smooth?
5. Can you please indicate the number of kilometers we are going to travel each day?
6. Do we need both visa to China and visa to Tibet? Can you arrange for both for us?
thank you!

Answered by CHINA GROUP TOURS Team:

Hi Ruma Sen,

thank you very much for your questions.

1. 68 years old is OK. It depends how healthy she is. We had always clients over 70 years old who have no problem finishing this trekking tour.

2. If your mother would like to stay in Darchen, it is OK. Because our guide is comeing with the group for trekking, only our driver will stay in Darchen with your mother. Will it be a little boring for her?
3. We only have a stop at the side of Manasarovar Lake, we will not go around it.
4. The road from Lhasa to Darchen is very good.

5. The kilometers for each day can be seen in the itinerary.

6. Yes, you need both. The China Visa should be applied in your own country. The Visa for Tibet, the so called Tibet Entry Permit will be applied by us.

Could you please tell me in which month you are going to make this tour?

Have a nice day!

Asked by Andre Renting - Netherlands -

I'm living in Nepal and I'm interested in your Mt Kalash tour but have some questions.
1. Do we also make a stop over on the way at Lake Manasarovar?
2. Just to make sure. At the end of the tour, do we have 2 nights in
Lhasa (as I can read from the itinerary)?
3. It says that this price is not included airfare. How about the cost for the
visa for Tibet?
4. If I have a return ticket from Kathmandu (Nepal) how do I get the Visa
for Tibet then?
5. Is it possible to extend my stay in Lhasa (at the end) for 1 more night?

Sincerely, Andre Renting

Answered by CHINA GROUP TOURS Team:

Dear Andre,
1. Yes,we will make a stop at Lake Manasarovar on the way from Saga to Darchen or Darchen back to Saga.
2. Drive from Saga to Lhasa at day 14, it will take almost one day because of the long distance between two cities. Then at day 15,you will fly to your country, the specific time depending on your scheduled flight.
3. The cost includes the Tibet visa,so you don’t have to pay extra fee.
4. You need to find a local travel agency in Nepal to get the Tibet visa. We have cooperatives in Nepal, you can also entrust us to handle it.I suggest you go to apply for one week in advance, so ensure you can get the Tibet visa before your departure.
5. Of course you can stay in lhasa for one more night if you like, but you need to afford the additional costs.

Asked by Thomas Hofbauer - Germany -

We (me and my wife) want to travel from Beijing by train to Lhasa, sightseeing in Lhasa, then forward journey to the holly mount Kailash.
My questions:
1. Can you offer us the train tickets from Beijing to Lhasa, we need soft sleeper and we would like to have the entire compartment if possible.
2. Do we have to apply the Tibet Permit by ourself or your agency will do it for us? Where can we get the paper?
We will be glad to hear from you soon!

Thomas Hofbauer

Answered by CHINA GROUP TOURS Team:

Dear Mr Hofbauer,

thank you very much for your questions.

Basically, we can buy the tickets from Beijing for your. Because there is only one train from Beijing to Lhasa each day, it will be problem to buy tickets in the high season. I would like to sugget you to start your train journey from Xining to Lhasa.
Xining is the beginning of the Qinghai Tibet Railway and there are about 6 trains from Xining to Lhasa daily. And we can garantee you the train tickets.

We will apply for the Tibet Permit for your in Lhasa. You should apply for the visa for China in Germany and then please send us the copy of your passports and visas to us. After we get the Tibet Permits, we will send them to Xining where you will get them.

If you have more questions, please let us know. If you prefer to communicate in German, we have german speaking colleagues too.

Have a nice day!

Asked by Jane Robinson - United States -

I have planned a trip to Tibet and EBC starting 4th September. Recently I heard a rumour that China may close Tibet to tourist for September. Do you know anything about this?

Jane Robinson

Answered by CHINA GROUP TOURS Team:

Yes, this following September is the 50th anniversary for founding of the Tibet Autonomous Region, it is possible that the chinese government will close Tibet to foreign travelers for early September (1st - 15th). In this case, I would highly suggest you to either ahead your trip in mid August then end the trip before September, or you may consider to postpone you trip after September 15th.

Best regards

Asked by Mario Salamotta - Italy -

Kailash! I would like to make a trip to the holy Kailash in September 2015, in oder to circle the mountain. If possible even in the old kingdom of Guge would be interessting for me. Preference enter through Ladakh to Tibet and Kathmandu back to Italy.
Do you have a group tour to Kailash including everthing I need?

Mario S

Answered by CHINA GROUP TOURS Team:

Hi Mr Salamotta, our group tour is ideal for you. You will have chance to explore the tibetan cities like Lhasa, Shigatse and Gyantse, and you will visit the Mount Everest Base Camp too. The highlight of this 15 days group tour is the 3 days trekking tour around the Mount Kailash.

But our tour does not include visit to the Gouge Kindom. If you want to go there, you need to take a tailor made private trip which will be much more expensive!

Have a nice day!
